Jayden's Mended Heart Bear Donation!
Posted on September 16 2021
In 2017 Jayden (8yrs old) was diagnosed with a heart murmur. It was significant enough that his pediatrician set up an appt with the Cardiologist. During his echocardiogram it was determined that he had a hole in his heart. The ASD and a partial anomalous pulmonary venous return needed to be repaired.
After surgery in Nov 2017, Jayden was gifted one of the Mended Heart Bummer Bears. He named his “Zippy!”
Jayden loved his bear, slept with it every night and the following year for his birthday he asked his family and friends to not bring gifts but consider making a donation that he could put towards buying bears for other kids. He raised enough money to buy 36 bears. Ms. Nancy Cross and Dr. Alan Friedman were there to receive the bears at the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital.
Jayden’s love of helping others is inspirational.
Jayden wanted to buy more bears again, so this year in February (heart month) he partnered with his school, Derby Middle School and raised over $1300 plus added his own money of $400 and then more from friends and family!
What a blessing it is, and we can’t thank you enough Katie!!
